Fisantekraal GC delivers when it matters – 16th June 2014

With winter upon us and the extreme cold and wet conditions, we can only imagine the situation our less fortunate families must survive in.

This is what Elaine Hartzenberg, Community leader at Fisantekraal experienced over the last few days and she knew that with the support from the FGC she would be able to assist some of the families in the Fisantekraal community.

With quick intervention from Mr Fabian Oostendorp, managing member of FLO Specialized product Solutions, who is the main sponsor and a member of Fisantekraal Golfing Community,
the club could secure 100 blankets purchased from Makro Stores Cape Gate at a discounted price. Mr Oostendorp can only thank the store manager Gert Burger and sales manager Melvin Abrahams who acknowledged his plea from the club at that time and hope that Makro Stores would become a partner in future projects like these.

Almost all the members of the FGC stepped away from their busy schedules and extended weekend plans to take part in this campaign on Youth Day.

The event was attended by Cyril Mack representative for ward 105 of subcouncil 7 (Koeberg), Elaine Hartzenberg Community leader in Fisantekraal and Daniel Bolton Chairman Richwood ratepayers association, who also expressed the needs of the families in the Richwood area and was delighted to see how passionate the FGC members were about their campaigns.

The speaker at the event was Denise Robinson (MP) who shared her concerns amongst the people and also expressed the joy she feels when the unspoken needs of the families can be met.

Cyril Mack also thanked the members of FGC and he now realized how consistent this golf club has become over the last few months in delivering on their promise.

The day started off with a golf clinic for the youngsters who braved the wet and cold conditions and soon afterwards the blankets were handed over to the families that attended the event.

The day was closed by FGC chairman Edward Kleynhans “who remarked” I feel a new sense of purpose towards the campaign I was assigned. I am motivated to do more than just to be a golf member.
